ABS
Introduction
ABS is “tough, hard and rigid” polymer which is easy-to-obtain, and good comprehensive performance, low price and wide range of uses.
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.) is an impact-resistant engineering thermoplastic & amorphous polymer, the unique physical properties of ABS include:
- High rigidity
- Good impact resistance, even at low temperatures
- Good insulating properties
- Good weld ability
- Good abrasion and strain resistance
- High dimensional stability (Mechanically strong and stable over time)
- High surface brightness and excellent surface aspect
- Very good resistance to diluted acid and alkalis
- Moderate resistance to aliphatic hydrocarbons
- Poor resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and alcohols
Applications of ABS polymer
ABS plastic sheets, also known as engineering plastics, can often be used as a cheaper, more durable and more convenient alternative to other plastics that uses for below industries:
- Automotive
- Refrigerators
- Keyboard Keys
In addition, ABS is an excellent choice for use in alloys. In addition to ABS-PC/ABS-PC alloys, recent innovations have also introduced new ABS alloys, which include ABS-SMA / ABS-PA.
